When Hurricane Helene hit Western North Carolina, it was grassroots groups like ROAR who mobilized first—coordinating supplies, wellness checks, and financial aid before outside help could arrive.
Based in Madison County, ROAR has been organizing since 2017 to meet immediate needs while building long-term community power. Their work spans mutual aid programs like free firewood distribution, seed libraries, and fruit tree giveaways, all aimed at local self-determination.
They also foster culture-driven solidarity through events like Honky Tonk Not Hate, raising funds for rural justice groups. ROAR’s work is rooted in place, care, and collective action—ensuring rural communities aren’t just recovering, but reimagining what’s possible.
In 2025, East Fork is committed to donating 1% of all sales directly to our Community Partners, solidifying our commitment to support the organizations working to make a more joyful and equitable world.
