Design
The Third Wave Mug was first introduced in 2019 by East Fork’s Small Batch Studio through a collaboration with Counter Culture Coffee. Today, it is still wheel-thrown, now by Mike Ball through the East Fork Workshop. It offers the same capacity as The Mug, but with a slightly squatter silhouette and a full dip of seasonal glaze.
Named for the Third Wave Coffee Movement—which emphasizes sustainability, traceability and deeper connections between growers and drinkers—this mug honors the hands and lands behind each cup.
We bring it back in small, seasonal batches, so if you see a color you love, don’t wait.
Why we love it:
- Wheel-thrown by Mike Ball, each one is unique.
- A squatter silhouette makes it perfect for tucking under most espresso machines.
- Dishwasher and microwave safe
Details
- Dimensions: 3.5" x 3.625”
- Weight: .9 lb
- Capacity: 14 oz to the brim, 12 oz comfortably
- Due to the hand-thrown nature of this vessel, dimensions and capacity will vary slightly.
- Material: 100% Lead Free Stoneware
- Our pottery is made by humans and reduction-fired in Asheville, North Carolina. Any differences in glaze applications and surfaces are there to embrace.
- Dishwasher and microwave safe
- Avoid open flames or preheated ovens. Our pots are oven safe up to 350° but must start in a cool oven and be brought up to heat gradually (think crème brûlée).
- Over time, your pots might accumulate mild cutlery marks. These can be buffed off with warm water and scouring powder such as Bar Keeper's Friend. More information.
